Hi to you all, if anyone acutally uses this site anymore!!
I have just visited Taibach Rugby Club Site and was astonished at how the club presents itself in regard to development and recruitment. It is involved directly with local schools this includes shared coaching and use of school facilities. I thought this was a fantastic idea, in order to recruit new members to the junior teams. they advertise they are involved in the development of rugby through the WRU etc and it is written so enticingly into the web site I cannot see why Waunarlwydd doesn't try some of the same tactics.
This season has found the under 10's (formally under 9') recruiting with ease, by reputation; I feel, when other teams have played us they have been impressed with the structure of the side and obvious fab coaching. However, on the other hand there seems a decline in the fact there is not an under9's nor under 8's team, which will have a rebound effect on the teams who will and can play us. Teams with full recruitment will only want to play clubs who have full sides of each age group.
When I started my son with Andrew, it was purely through the fact that Andrew had advertised through Manselton School and other primary schools, however, nothing has been done to recruit further that I am aware of. It is very sad to think other teams could suffer due to poor recruitment strategies, although if I am wrong on this score and you have tried apologies, but I have not witnessed any effort myself.
We are supposed to be a proud nation when it comes to rugby, yet devlopment of the teams is far behind that seen in football, what is going on????
Please can there be more effort made.
Thank you |

I think it is a valid point, and I will pass your post onto the Junior committee.
I like the idea of offering to help in schools with coaching and the like, it is a good way to get in front of the kids that you want to play for Waun. _________________ When all else fails, have a bow!!!! |
